A Message from the Principal

I have been working in secondary school education for a long time, over 30 years. As a Croydon boy I know the borough and its people well. I have been involved in school improvement for many years, at Edenham’s last Ofsted inspection we achieved  ‘Good with Outstanding’. The criterion for inspection seems to change from year to year and now there is a real focus on examination outcomes and subject performance. This is our number one priority at this present point in time.

I am confident that our current Year 11 students will achieve some of Edenhams best examination results since I arrived here 6 years ago. The school has been entirely restructured and has an engaging environment that focuses on these key areas:

  • Excellent teaching, examination outcomes and progress made in all subjects
  • Educational pathways to fulfil the individuals potential and aspirations
  • Wellbeing and positive relationships
  • Values that place emphasis on manners, politeness, consideration, loyalty and treating people with respect
  • Inclusive education to support all children of all abilities

There are many other important factors that make Edenham an excellent choice for your child.

At Edenham there is a mix of new, experienced and very experienced teachers. The quality of teaching has been carefully built upon over the years with on going training so that we keep up to date with the constant changes in our education system. There is an ethos that makes all staff equal and which focuses on the impact of their work on the day-to-day lives of the students in our Edenham Community.

Edenham has a real sense of tradition with many parents who in the past themselves attended Edenham High School. The numbers of local children applying for Edenham is increasing year on year and this year we are three times oversubscribed. Edenham is fast becoming a ‘first choice’ school for parents across Croydon.

We are an inclusive school and pride ourselves on this. All children achieve and make progress at Edenham. We teach children the foundations that they will need to build on for their future. The school has some of the best pastoral, child protection and safeguarding practices in the borough of Croydon.

If you would like to come and visit our school and see us in action please contact Mrs Pat McMillan, Director of Student Care and Wellbeing to arrange this,  pmcmillan@edenham.net  0208 776 0220 Ext: 202

I do hope you consider Edenham for your child and I very much look forward to welcoming you, your family and your child to our school.

Mr. Richard Rudd
